Patienthåndbogen
Patienthåndbogen (In English: “Patient’s Handbook”) is an online medical encyclopedia for patients and relatives. It contains approx. 3,000 medical articles about conditions, symptoms, treatments, and health, and is illustrated with over 2,000 drawings, photos, x-rays, videos, and animations.
Please notice that we do not accept private medical enquiries. We ask you to kindly contact your own doctor or another relevant health care professional.
Medical editors
Every article in Patienthåndbogen is written and revised by a Danish specialist and a General Practitioner and is updated on a regular basis to make sure that the content is reliable and up to date. A secretariat and an editorial team based at the Danish Medical Association is in charge of daily administration.Access to Patienthåndbogen
Patienthåndbogen is easily accessed through Sundhed.dk - the National Danish eHealth Portal or via Patienthåndbogen.dk. Patienthåndbogen is free of charge for everyone and requires no log-in.

Lægehåndbogen (In English: “Doctor’s Handbook”) is an online medical encyclopedia aimed primarily at Danish General Practitioners and secondarily at other health care professionals. It contains approx. 3,000 medical articles and 2,000 illustrations.Interaction with Patienthåndbogen
Almost every condition described in Lægehåndbogen has a corresponding article in Patienthåndbogen aimed at citizens. Patienthåndbogen can be approached via links in Lægehåndbogen. This allows health care professionals to easily access and print from Patienthåndbogen as a supplement when informing and advising patients and relatives about health-related issues.

Objectives
The specific objectives of the Danish Medical Association, as stated in its statutes, is: to unite Danish doctors in order to protect the interests of the medical profession, and to serve as the body through which the influence of the medical profession may be exercised on general social issues in the best interest of health and the health care system.
Advisory body in medical questions
While the Danish Medical Association is a lobby organization for Danish doctors it is also recognized by the Parliament, the national health administration, the ministries, and the private sector as an expert and advisory body for the authorities in medical questions and is represented in several official committees and working parties. Nearly all Danish doctors are members of the Danish Medical Association.
About the Danish Regions
Five regional governments
The Danish regions are the 5 regional governments under the Danish Government. The tasks of the regions include health care, operation of social and special education institutions, and regional development.
